dodgy dossier

dodgy dossier
A document (Iraq: Its Infrastructure of Concealment, Deception and Intimidation) issued to journalists in February 2003 on behalf of the Blair Government by Alastair Campbell. The ministerial case against the regime of Saddam Hussein had been set out in a dossier released the previous September, the document said by Andrew Gilligan to have been ‘sexed up’ by Campbell. The dodgy dossier, so named by Channel 4 News, was written by the Communications team, who had heavily plagiarised the contents from various unattributed sources, most notably an article in a foreignaffairs journal published in September 2002. Number Ten conceded that a mistake had been made in not acknowledging sources, but did not see this as detracting from the arguments and facts advanced.
